2010 Scholarship Banquet

Over the past 25 years, the Napa County Hispanic Network has given over 300,000 dollars in scholarships to deserving Latino students in Napa County whose only dream is to attend a college of their choice and be a productive member of our community. We're hoping you can join us at our 27th Annual Scholarship Banquet on September 10, 2010 at the Silverado County Club. Please join us and honor our 35 current scholarship winners and past winners.

Unlike previous years, we are not sending out tickets (save cost!) but instead will have the name of the person with the number of tickets for the dinner and/or dance at the greeting table. The cost is $90 through September 1st and $110 at the door. We hope you can join us for this wonderful event.

Friday, September 10 at the Silvarado Country Club
NO-host Bar/Silent Auction: 5:30 pm
Dinner/Recognition Program: 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Dance: 8:30 - 11:00 pm to live music

1st Annual Bocce Tournament and Game Day

Saturday, May 22, 2010, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

The 1st Annual Bocce Tournament and Game Day is hosted by The Napa Bocce Association (1500 Jefferson Street, Napa), and benefits Puertas Abiertas Community Resource Center.

Twenty-four teams of four players each will compete in a single elimination format according to Napa Bocce Association rules. The overall winner will be awarded a grand prize. The first, second and third place teams will receive medals and will be named top seeds at next year’s tournament.

In addition to the team tournament, there will be “Bocce Games” for individual participants – tests of skill (and luck)! Activities will include continental breakfast and lunch buffets, wine tasting, special contests, surprises and an exceptional silent auction. It will be a rollicking day for a great cause!

Contributions are tax-deductible and will benefit Puertas Abiertas Community Resource Center.

Art Opening and Exhibition

Announcing an upcoming art exhibit, which will feature the work of local Latino artists.  The proceeds from this event will benefit local food banks.

An Art Opening and Exhibition celebrating emerging Napa Valley Latino alternative artists presented by Flying Colors Tattoo, Lilia's Beauty Salon, Wandering Rose, and The Calendar Guy!

COST: 2 dollars or 2 cans of FOOD! Proceeds will benefit local food banks.

Publicists Hugo Corro and Sierra La Donna Minchaca will be our Guests of Honor as they officially launch the latest issue of the coolest zine in the Napa Valley, "The Spinning Compass."

Inside the tattoo studio there will be spinning piñata art specifically designed for unique viewing and created by Patrick Williams and Julio Soriano. Sponsored by Channel 28's "Pappy Hour".

There will be tattoo's raffled! Bodies pierced for only $10.00! Sponsored by

cause!

Artist and Musician, Lissette Banda will be performing in the salon where her works of art will be on exhibition. Also in the salon acoustic vibes with Serf and James accompanied by Cole Armstrong and others TBA.

Street artists, Leaf and Joey will be creating a work of art on canvas in memory of Napa Valley artist, Reuben Godinez sponsored by Napa Valley Art Supplies. The art will be auctioned at the end of the exhibition and proceeds will benefit two art education programs Reuben dedicated himself to including Nimbus Arts and ACNV arts ed.

Giovannie Robledo, Creator of Pinky Lee Clothing, will be designing event t-shirts in memory of Reuben and presenting her new line, "runway style". Proceeds will go to Reuben's family. Community leader & Channel 28's NAPA Live host, Arty Party will MC the fashion show!

This event celebrating Latino alternative artists is one not to be missed!

This event will include performances by alternative bands including the Helen Kellers, ASTROSLIDE, Lee Harvey & the 2nd Shooters, In The Know, Calluseyed, DJ's ,Teenage Sweater and more sponsored by the best taco trucks in town! Special appearance by Ozcat Radio's North Bay Uprising host, "DJ Progress"...The DJ formerly known as part of the Anonymous Duo.

Poet Julio Soriano and "Poetry out loud" finalist Alejandra Leon will recite poetry.

Exhibition will be available to view at the discretion of these business through June 2010.

Mentoring Program

The Hispanic Network is proud to join the efforts of the Napa County Office of Education to recruit mentors for some of the more at-risk youth in our county. We will be announcing more details of this new program in the next few weeks.
